Research Fields, Teaching and International Cooperation
Main research and teaching fields : development of computetional methods
for considering rheological influences, as well as thermal moisture changes
in plain and reinforced concrete structures ; problems of preserving
tightness and problems of soil liquefaction phenomena in the earth structures,
especially in case of seismic actions, development of computer methods
structures analysis and syntesis. Results of the above mentioned scientific
works were implemented at numerous hydraulic structures in Poland (e.g. the
earth dam on the Skawa river in Swinna Poreba and the earth dam on the Swislina
river in Wiory, near Starachowice. Other research and teaching tasks
concern structural problems of reconstruction and maintenance of historical
buildings. The theoretical studies concern modelling of brick and stone
masonry, as well as modelling and structural problems of historical vaults,
mostly
gothic ones, theory and technology of monuments conservation.
Within the framework of COPERNICUS Project, the Department
co-operates with the following institutions : University College of Wales
(Swansea), Lubliana University of Technology, Padova University, Prague
University, and, furthermore, with the Universities of Toronto and Windsor
(Canada). |
